PM Narendra Modi Interested In Waiving Loans of Only the Rich: Rahul Gandhi

He said both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Shivraj Chouhan were responsible for the deaths of farmers in Mandsaur

NAYA GAON, (MP): Congress Vice-President Shri Rahul Gandhi has been arrested in Madhya Pradesh’s Neemuch area where he finally managed to reach after a lot of resistance en route from state police departments. He was on his way to Mandsaur, the epicentre of farmer protests that have escalated over the death of five in police firing, to meet the families of the victims.

After tweeting about his visit yesterday he would visit Mandsaur to meet the families of the five farmers killed in police firing. Shri Rahul Gandhi began his journey for Mandsaur 8th June, 2017 morning. Shri Rahul Gandhi flew to Rajasthan’s Udaipur and then drove in a convoy towards Mandsaur, around 180 km away. Congress Vice President Shri Rahul Gandhi couldn’t reach Mandsaur, but as soon as he crossed the Rajasthan-Madhya Pradesh border, Around 3 km from the border, the Congress Vice President and leaders were stopped again. Shri Rahul Gandhi got off the bike and started a brisk walk, ring-fenced by the Special Protection Group. He accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of “waiving loans of the country’s rich”, but “doing nothing for the poor farmers”.

While speaking to the reporters, he lashed out at the Centre and the State Governments saying both PM Modi and Chief Minister Shivraj Chouhan were responsible for the deaths of farmers in Mandsaur.

He said that PM Modi could waive loans worth Rs. 1.50 lakh crore of the rich but not of farmers. “He can’t provide the right price for their agricultural produce, can’t give them bonus, can’t give compensation... He can only give them bullets.”

Congress Vice President Shri Rahul Gandhi was briefly arrested, as he tried to go to Madhya Pradesh’s Mandsaur. Shri Rahul Gandhi’s attempts to defy police barricades turned into a wild steeplechase as he swapped his car for a bike, then hopped on to another bike, and finally set out on foot through fields before he was taken to a guest house that served as a makeshift jail.

Shri Rahul Gandhi was released four hours later.

Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi, who was detained by police and after a long struggle, the administration finally agreed to allow Congress Vice President Shri Rahul Gandhi to meet the families of those who were killed in police firing in Mandsaur.

Along with him are leaders like Shri Digvijay Singh, Shri Kamal Nath, Dr Girija Vyas, Shri Sachin Pilot and several Congressmen in several vehicles are accompanying Gandhi. Hundreds of Congress workers as well as senior leaders like Rajasthan Pradesh Congress President, Shri Sachin Pilot and Madhya Pradesh legislator Shri Jaiwardhan Singh also courted arrest while trying to make their way to Mandsaur
