Taking forward Babasaheb Dr BR Ambedkar’s Quest for Equity

The Congress Party’s idea of India is designed to establish a just and equitable society by undoing the regressive norms that have crushed our people for centuries. Over the past 60 years, the Indian National Congress has consistently strived to guarantee and deliver those conditions that would actualize the fullness of life, especially for those who have hitherto been excluded from society.

Unfortunately, equality of opportunity and status was, and is a norm followed more in the breach. This is partly because of the prevalence of regressive norms in society and partly because of organizations that are antithetical to the principles enshrined in the Constitution of India. To overcome these, and to make the promise of this nation equitably accessible, it is imperative that we continuously study why and how marginalized groups are discriminated against or excluded.

It is in striving towards this end that on the occasion of Babasaheb Dr BR Ambedkar’s 126th birth anniversary, the Scheduled Castes Department, All India Congress Committee is proud to present “Quest for Equity” which is designed to serve as the definitive platform for data, research and legislation on issues related to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. In doing so, it hopes to take Babasaheb Dr BR Ambedkar’s spirit forward by encouraging critical analysis of contemporary socio-economic and political issues.
