A contorted-distorted legacy built on lies

Spokesperson: Dr. Anshul Avijit: He said that here is a concerted attempt by this government to rewrite history, a contorted-distorted legacy built on lies and untruth to the next generation. In the class 12th political science NCERT book, Maulana Azad’s name has been unceremoniously deleted. That is a huge travesty of history, of his name, of his stature, of his personality, and of his contribution. I condemn it in the strongest possible words.

I do not need to repeat his background, his achievements. He had a huge contribution to play in the freedom movement, we know. He was a great scholar; all the scholars looked up to him. There is no need for me to remind you that he was an institution and now his name is no longer there.

Any reference to the Gujarat riots has been obliterated. There is no reference to the banning of the RSS after the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi Ji and another subject of social justice and the caste system. The atrocities that took place during the caste system have been down played now as if nothing ever existed- India was a society of economic and social equity, absolutely amazing! In Delhi University, if you do remember, some time back in the English course ‘Mahasweta Devi’s ‘Draupadi’ was also removed. Mahasweta Devi as you all know is a big advocate of tribal rights. If you remove her, you are virtually making the tribal population incognito, de-historicizing them, removing them, throwing them out of history. This is completely unacceptable. We strongly object to it. Thursday, April 13, 2023.
