‘Better Delhi’ campaign against civic issues in the capital

Spokespersons: Shri Ajay Maken, Shri Devendra Yadav, Shri Uday Bhanu Chib and Shri Akshay Lakra: The AICC Treasurer Shri Ajay Maken, DPCC President Shri President Devendra Yadav, Indian Youth Congress President Shri Uday Bhanu Chib and Delhi Youth Congress President Shri Akshay Lakra outlined the roadmap for the launched ‘Better Delhi’ campaign by the Indian Youth Congress, announcing a struggle against the BJP government to provide relief to the people from the problems such as pollution, filth, water scarcity and water logging in the national capital.

Shri Ajay Maken said that the Youth Congress has taken an important initiative to address civic issues faced by people living in urban areas of the country, beginning with Delhi. People living in urban areas face numerous problems, which are not given much attention, he said, adding, the Youth Congress has decided that keeping in mind the important issues, they will go reach out to people, discuss their problems and take necessary steps to resolve them.

The AICC Treasurer Shri Ajay Makan said that about 40 percent of the country’s population lives in cities, but their problems are often ignored. Targeting targeted the Modi government at the Centre and said that weakening MGNREGA would lead to increased migration from villages and place greater pressure on cities.

DPCC President Shri Devendra Yadav said that despite the orders of the Supreme Court, the mountains of garbage have not been cleared. He added that garbage processing is also a big problem in Delhi, due to which the public has not been able to see any lasting solution till date. He also flagged other issues, stating that power cuts have already begun with the onset of summer.

Indian Youth Congress President Shri Uday Bhanu Chib added that today Delhi has been turned into a “pollution capital of the world” and “gas chamber” by the current BJP government and the previous Kejriwal government.

As part of this campaign, he demanded complete elimination of garbage piles from Delhi, a permanent solution to the problem of water logging during rains, 24-hour supply of clean drinking water to the public, improved security with CCTV cameras in government schools, a halt to Illegal construction and registration of criminal cases against officials protecting it, a thorough probe into the ‘fake employee’ scam with recovery of public funds.
