Bizarre IT Amendment Rules

Spokesperson: Ms. Supriya Shrinate:She said that the IT Amendment rules have been notified by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. It is bizarre because these rules were put up for consultation in January. It now says that fake news against the Central Government will be checked by a unit of the government itself.

So, the government is the propagator, the author, the originator and the factory of fake news operators and which is why the question: - ‘Is the government willing to discuss issues that really matter?’ You cancel Shri Rahul Gandhi’s membership and you believe that he is not going to talk after that. You believe that because you will suppress large sections of media, you can do that to independent digital platforms as well. You read the statement of your own body, the Press Council of India and you will figure out how draconian these rules are and how everything is being done to suppress the truth, to suppress the press.

This violates India’s Constitution, this violates ‘Freedom of Speech and Expression’ and more than anything else, it violates the IT Act of 2000, which is the mother law under which these amendments are being made.

The uncomfortable questions, the uncomfortable truth baffle this government. They are on the back foot and which is why they are now trying to control the World Wide Web (WWW). There have been numerous instances of a news coming being called out as ‘Fake News’ by the government and then turning out to be true. Every issue so far has had a baffling pattern. The biggest ‘fake news’ factory in the world is the BJP IT cell.

Is the Prime Minister going to be called out for the lies that he paddles? Is the Home Minister going to be called out for the lies that he paddles? Is the BJP IT cell going to be banned? That’s the question today. Saturday, April 8, 2023
