Spokesperson: Shri Pawan Khera: Addressing a press conference, spokesperson and the Chairman of the Media and Publicity Department, Shri Pawan Khera said that the BJP government has “openly subverted the democratic institutions of the country” including the judiciary. Citing the recent abrupt transfer of the Sambhal CJM Vibhanshu Sudheer, he termed the move punitive, and said it’s a textbook example of how the ruling party has hijacked the judicial system to serve its political interests.

He said that the CJM, who had been sent to Sambhal only on September 18, 2025, was transferred within four months of his posting after he directed registration of an FIR on January 9, 2026, against then Circle Officer Sambhal Anuj Chaudhary and other police personnel over indiscriminate firing during the violence.

Khera alleged that police firing during the Sambhal incident led to the deaths of three members of the Muslim community and described the episode as requiring an independent and impartial investigation. He accused the BJP government of attempting to shield those responsible and suppress accountability.

He urged the Supreme Court of India and the Allahabad High Court to take suo motu cognisance of the transfer of Sambhal’s CJM, stating that the matter went beyond an individual officer and involved the preservation of judicial independence and constitutional balance. Saturday January 24, 2026
