Spokespersons: Shri Deepender Singh Hooda and Shri Rajendra Pal Gautam: MP from Haryana Deepender Singh Hooda, along with AICC SC Department Chairman Rajendra Pal Gautam, said that the Returning Officer was also biased and, till the last minute, tried to get the Congress candidate defeated.

The Congress Party said that it had defeated the Bharatiya Janata Party’s designs to steal the Rajya Sabha elections in Haryana. The Party said that the BJP tried to use all means and methods such as threats, intimidation and inducements to steal the election, but Congress legislators ensured that these attempts were thwarted.

They said that it was a clear attempt by the BJP to murder democracy in the darkness of the night, first through inducements and intimidation and then by trying to use the office of the Returning Officer.

Shri Deepender Hooda also accused the Indian National Lok Dal of playing second fiddle to the BJP during the elections. He said that it was only after the INLD realised that the Congress was set to win the second seat that it announced it would abstain from voting.

The Haryana Congress leader appreciated the loyalty and commitment of the Congress legislators who resisted all pressures, intimidation and inducements, stood by the Party and defeated the BJP’s designs. Tuesday, March 17, 2026
