Spokesperson: Wing Commander (retd.) Anuma Acharya: She said that on May 09, the order of the Honorable Supreme Court came in favor of women officers, in which the Short Service Commissioned women officers were petitioners, the Supreme Court has asked to reinstate them in service till the next hearing.
It was said by the Central Government that only 250 Short Service Commissioned officers can be given permanent commission every year, which is about 600 to 700.
This decision has come at a time when for the last three days, we have been seeing women officers putting forward their country’s side in a very restrained, very composed manner and with great dignity. This decision of the Honorable Supreme Court is a ray of hope for women officers and this permanent commission was possible due to the Babita Punia vs Government of India case. The Supreme Court has decided that women officers should be reinstated till the next hearing in August. We welcome this very much. Saturday, May 10, 2025
