Demands white paper on NTA functioning

Spokespersons:Shri Uday Bhan Chib and Dr. Chayanika Uniyal: Indian Youth Congress President Shri Uday Bhan Chib and Dr. Uniyal blamed the NTA of complete failure and demanded an explanation from Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the National Testing Agency (NTA)’s decision to re-conduct the UGC-NET examination for three subjects, saying that the government’s ‘failed examination system’ was ruining the future of the country’s youth.

They also demanded that application forms for all examinations be made available to students for a nominal fee of Re 1 to provide financial relief to aspirants. Referring to the student protest at Jantar Mantar, IYC President said that Congress leader Shri Rahul Gandhi had already made it clear that the removal of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan was only the ‘first step’ and not the last. He said that such irregularities would continue unless accountability was fixed across the examination system.

Dr Uniyal said that the NTA had itself acknowledged basic errors in question papers, including mistakes involving names of scholars, book titles, grammar, gender and pronunciation. She questioned whether officials and experts responsible for such errors would face action and whether their names would be made public.

They further demanded a detailed white paper covering all 15 major examinations cancelled or postponed by the NTA since its establishment and called for an immediate government audit of the agency, which it alleged had projected itself as financially profitable. Monday, August 17, 2026
