Spokesperson: Dr. Abhishek Manu Singhvi: He said that Congress blasted the government for claiming that Opposition motion against Justice Varma was not admitted in the Rajya Sabha on July 21. Dr. Abhishek Manu Singhvi referred to the union Parliamentary Affairs minister Kiren Rijiju saying that no motion had been admitted in the Rajya Sabha.

Blasting Rijiju’s false claims, CWC Member Dr. Singhvi pointed out, a constitutionally decisive motion was presented in the Rajya Sabha, seeking an inquiry into the allegations of impropriety against Justice Yashwant Varma, a sitting judge of the Allahabad High Court.

Dr. Singhvi observed that the BJP government felt insecure and embarrassed over losing control of the narrative. “The Congress and the Opposition led the narrative as the Government remained mute on judicial accountability and the Modi Government could not countenance this embarrassment”, he remarked.

Dr. Singhvi said the BJP Government has not only squandered an opportunity to take forward an important motion in a bipartisan manner, it has ensured the confirmation of its reputation that it is a government that only acts in the advancement of its own interests. Saturday, July 26, 2025
