Spokesperson: Smt. Alka Lamba: She said that recently you saw that the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Shri Rahul Gandhi decided to meet the victim’s family of the incident that took place in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, exactly four years ago on 14 September 2020. Shri Rahul Gandhi reached Hathras with the hope that the victim’s family would have got justice in these four years. But a very worrying truth is being exposed. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said in a TV interview that the last rites of a 19-year-old Dalit girl were performed with the consent and in the presence of the family. Today the family is saying that they believe in Hinduism and they are Hindu families and the last rites are not performed at night, but at 2:30 am the police and administration poured petrol on the body and burned it without the consent and presence of the family. On one side the Chief Minister is saying this and on the other side the family is saying the exact opposite. I leave it to the people of the country to decide who is speaking the truth and who is lying. Has the family been given proper compensation till now after four years? The family says that they did not get it. The family was promised a permanent government job, did any member of the family get a permanent government job in four years? The family says that they did not get it. It was promised that the case of the victim would be tried in a fast-track court, was the case tried in the fast-track court? There was a promise of justice for four years, did we get justice? The family says that justice is not being done. There was no justice, injustice has been done in these four years. We stand with the family strongly in every way and by Shri Rahul Gandhi standing up in the House and saying this, going and meeting the family, this is working to keep the hope alive in the hearts of all our daughters, whether they are Dalits, minors, rape victims, victims of sexual harassment, and their families.Tuesday, December 17, 2024
