HIGH COURT ON OPERATION LOTUS

Spokesperson: Shri Rajeev Shukla: He said that today’s topic is very important, and it is regarding the Chief Minister of Karnataka B.S. Yeddyurappa. Yesterday, the Karnataka High Court passed an order in which it is clearly stated that in ‘Operation Lotus’, defection of MLAs was exercised to form the government in a non-democratic way by Yeddyurappa ji. It is also mentioned that how that government was formed through corruption using money power.

Now, the High Court has vacated the stay which had been given on initiating the probe against the Chief Ministerand has said that the matter should be investigated. I think a fair and transparent investigation can only take place, if the Chief Minister gives resignation or is sacked from his position. So, we demand that BJP, which always talks about cleanliness in politics, transparency, morality, shouldsolicit the resignation of their Chief Minister, Yediyurappa Ji and the Governor should order, or the new Government should order a fair investigation against him in ‘Operation Lotus’ or ‘Operation Kamalam’ whatever it is called, because it is a very serious matter, and a serious & impartial probe is required in this issue. The BJP creates a lot of hue and cry if there are allegations raised against them, but if, even wild allegations or false allegations are raised against opposition leaders, then they raise that issue with full voice. Now, I think BJP should immediately take an action.

The second issue along with that is that a Minister of Shri Yediyurappa Government, Shri Eshwarappa had written a letter to the governor and also to the BJP Chief there, that there is a huge interference by the Chief Minister in his department and money is being allocated. K S Eshwarappa alleged that decisions are being taken for his ministry without his approval or consent. “I am in pain, to bring to your kind notice, some of the recent actions of our Respected Chief minister relating to my department, which amounts to direct interference in the affairs of ministers-in-charge of departments, in clear violation of Karnataka (Transaction of Business) rules, 1977 and also against the established practices and procedures relating to the affairs of the State administration. For your kind reference I would like to quote the relevant provisions of Karnataka Government….”

On the letter addressed to the Hon’ble Chief Minister by the President of Zila Panchayat, Bangalore, Hon’ble Chief Minister directly sanctioned Rs. 65 crores and put pressure on Principal Secretary to issue Government orders by bypassing the Minister In-charge. You yourself could see that ‘There is no logic and fairness in sanctioning `65 crores to one district neglecting the remaining 29 districts.’

So, this is a very serious charge. The Congress party demands that Yeddyurappa Ji should resign immediately or be removed from his post immediately. Thursday, April 01, 2021
