Spokesperson: Shri Pawan Khera: He said that I have come before you, not with poetry, but with prose. Not with any romantic high-sounding words, but very-very brutal, cruel reality of everyday life of every single Indian. It appears as though there is a section 144 in the kitchen, when it comes to tomatoes and onions. You cannot have more than 4. Why is it that we are paying Rs. 100 for a kilogram of tomatoes, Rs. 120 for capsicum, Rs. 50 for onions? Why is it that the farmers find it difficult to produce these commodities because of the input cost, which is very high? We have been repeating here, GST on agricultural equipment, the price of DAP, the price of diesel, after all, all these commodities come from various parts of the country to the Azadpur Mandi here. They end up paying more for diesel; they end up paying more for a lot of input cost that we mentioned before. Why is it that the government keeps trying to distract the collective attention of this country through the media, through all of us, through social media to issues which are non-issues?
So, the seven and a half years of Mr Modi has been a long chain of mistakes, some acknowledged, some realised; some not acknowledged, not realised. Why should the country pay a price for the series of mistakes of Mr Modi? We as opposition, as a responsible opposition, will not allow the attention of this country to be distracted.
Have we been able to make the government realise its mistakes or not, as we struggle paying our EMIs, our monthly bills, whether it is milk, petrol, diesel, cooking oil or vegetable? We get to know that the GST on readymade garments and footwear has been increased from 5 per cent to 12 per cent. Why? This government is getting away with this because you and I are allowing it to get away with it. We will not do it. Tuesday, November 23, 2021
