Political Thick Skin-ness

Spokesperson: Dr. Abhishek Manu Singhvi:He said that I think, it is important, precisely because we cannot allow political thick skin-ness to take us for granted. People’s indifference becomes the breeding ground for corruption, and it is to shuck you out of your indifference that we speak to you through the media. And we trust the media to make an issue to shuck you out of any complacency.

Power doesn’tactually corrupt as somebody said, fear corrupts and above all, the fear of loss of power corrupts. Instead of power corrupting, the fear of loss of power is what is corrupting, and this corruption tax is paid by the poor of Karnataka for which the CM is shamelessly hanging on to the seat without the slightest political morality, any regard to any principle and no regard to political decency.

There was a time when people would take moral responsibility and resign. Here is a Chief Minister, who has had in the recent 3-4 months and I have taken those press conferences been strictured by the High Court three times. He is sitting as a CM with an interim order of the Supreme Court saying- no arrest shall take place. I am not on the legality, he may not be arrested, but is this the ‘NaitikMulya’, the moral plan on which a ‘Mukhya Mantri’ can sit on his seat? Is this the morality of the Prime Minister who never asks him to leave? Is this the principles stand of the Home Minister, who doesn’t remove him? Is this the Nelsonian blind eye of the party to which he belongs, which will not touch him? Is this the naked shameless lust for power, which makes people stick on and parties ignore everything? This is the worst form of breeding ground for corruption. It clearly exposes the unethical, unscrupulous and untrustworthy nature of the BJP and of the Karnataka Government and of their daily masters. We call upon through you for immediate resignation, yesterday, unfortunately knowing fully well that it will not happen even tomorrow. Sunday, 21 March, 2021
