Water quality samples were taken from 41 locations in Uttar Pradesh. In 16 of those locations, the status of faecal coliform bacteria was such that 500 MPN was found in a 100 ml sample. What does this mean? MPN means Most Probable Number and if you know what faecal coliform is, you will be shocked. Faecal coliform bacteria is found only in animal and human excreta.

Is the water of Ganga drinkable? There was a petition about the Varanasi river where in it was said that can you say that this water can be consumed. If not, then put a public board here that neither this water is drinkable nor it is fit for bathing. Such an unfortunate situation has been created. The Modi government of Bharatiya Janata Party and Adityanath Ji’s government of Uttar Pradesh, Dhami government of Uttarakhand, all these governments are collectively responsible for this.
