Resignation of the Home Minister for lying to the Parliament

Spokesperson: Dr. Ajoy Kumar: He said that the Congress Party demands the immediate resignation of the Home-Minister for lying to the Parliament and to the nation on the events of December 04, in the district of Mon, Oting village regarding the killing of 14 innocent people. The Congress Party demands one crore compensation to every relative of the people, who have been killed in this episode. The Congress Party demands Rs. 10 lakh to every person who is injured and Congress Party demands the Commission of enquiry, the SIT, which should work under a sitting judge of Guwahati High Court, because the Nagaland Bench of the High Court comes under Guwahati. Now, these are the demands.

And the reason why we have made these demands is that the Home-Minister knew about this incident on the December 04 at night. Instead of going to and resolving the issue and conveying his condolence to the people of Nagaland and Mon and especially in Oting village, the Home Minister rushes in the opposite direction to Jaipur and is only targeting the Government of Rajasthan, the Congress Government in Rajasthan, when such a big incident has happened in one of the most sensitive districts of this country, then he goes to the Parliament and he lies about the incident saying that the people fled. The actual eye witness report was that the people were not warned, the firing happened, 6 people died, 2 people got injured and when the villagers went to seek what had happened, they couldn’t find the bodies. So, they swarm Army vehicle, they went to the army vehicle and in the army vehicle under the tarpaulin, where 6 bodies of the people of Oting village, who were all miners, who worked in the coal mines of Mon district near Tiru village.

When the villagers got agitated, because there were 8 people. Arguments happened between the villagers and the army personnel. In the ensuing argument and scuffle, 2 army vehicles were set on fire. Firing happened and 7 people died including one army Jawan.

The next day, Mon district had a bandh, the Konyak Students’ Union went to meet the army officers. They were spending lot of time, there was a lot of delay in that, so the people got agitated and set Konyak Students’ Union office on fire and in the ensuing firing one person died.

Smt. Sonia Gandhi Ji made a committee to enquire into this issue, which had Shri Jitendra Singh Ji, In-charge of Assam; Shri Gaurav Gogoi Ji, MP; Shri Anto Anthony Ji, MP and myself. We went to Jorhat, because that’s the nearest airport and the Assam police and the CISF detained us immediately and wanted to send us back in the same flight in which we had gone, because the Government of India was worried that the Congress Party’s delegation will expose the untruth of the BJP. After many-many hours of arguments, there was section 144, we were detained at the airport, we were able to negotiate, discuss with the government and get them agree to let us meet the injured people and their family members in Dibrugarh. Two people who were injured there, they are out of danger.

The eyewitness has told us that what Mr. Amit Shah said in the Parliament was an absolute lie. The Firing happened from front and two grenades like weapons were there, they heard very large sounds from the back and machine gun firing from the front. 6 people died, 2 got injured and rest of the incident is clear.

So, we are here with the Home-Minister who has no sense of shame. He hears about this incident on December 04 and he rushes in the opposite direction, instead of going east, he goes west, to Jaipur, for a political meeting. Nobody from the Government of India, or a Cabinet-Minister has visited the site of the incident. The BJP has always treated the North East in a step motherly manner and it is another example of their dirty politics. Sunday, December 26, 2021.
