Spokespersons: Smt. Varsha Gaikwad, MP and Shri Atul Londhe Patil: Describing the death of Dr. Sampada Munde, who was working as a Medical Officer in a Satara hospital and was forced to commit suicide, as an institutional murder, the Congress demanded the resignation of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis for his failure to do justice. The Congress Party also demanded the setting up of a Special Investigation Team or a judicial probe to uncover the truth and punish the real culprits.
They demanded the immediate arrest of the culprits and justice for the victim. They added that if the government does not take strong action in this matter, the Congress Party will launch an agitation and will continue the fight until Dr. Sampada Munde gets justice.
Giving details of the case, Varsha Gaikwad said that Dr. Sampada was compelled to take this extreme step because of political pressure, blackmail, and sexual exploitation under a well-planned conspiracy.
She said, earlier Dr. Sampada had resisted pressure from the officials of a sugar mill owned by former BJP MP Ranjeet Singh Naik Nimbalkar. She alleged that Dr. Sampada was being forced to issue fake fitness certificates to mill workers and to alter post-mortem reports, which she had refused.
Smt. Gaikwad further disclosed that Dr. Sampada had been continuously harassed and blackmailed, and despite complaints to her seniors and police, no action was taken. Alleging that the BJP always protected and patronised criminals, she said this was the reason that the police were not taking any action in the matter. She also questioned the clean chit given to Naik by Fadnavis without any inquiry.
Expressing disappointment over the attitude of the State Women’s Commission, she said it had not even met Dr. Sampada’s family and had instead engaged in her character assassination. Atul Londhe Patil said that that this incident reflected the mindset of the RSS, which is against the Dalits and tribals and protects the culprits. He disclosed that the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Shri Rahul Gandhi had spoken to the family of Dr. Sampada and assured them of full support and solidarity. Thursday, October 30, 2025
