Spokesperson: Shri Pramod Tiwari: He demanded a Supreme Court-monitored SIT probe into the massive financial irregularities in the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya and the handling of its donations. He accused the BJP of shielding those responsible and seeking strict punishment for those found guilty. He also flagged large-scale irregularities in land purchases, temple donations and expenditure related to the Ram Temple project. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah were avoiding discussion on the issue in Parliament despite its association with the faith of millions of devotees.
He remarked that it was that was not just the offerings that were stolen at the Ram Mandir; the theft had begun as early as the ‘Shila Pujan’. He said that not everyone associated with the BJP is a donation thief, but every donation thief who has been caught belongs to the BJP. He also alleged that hundreds of crores of rupees were embezzled during the temple’s construction, and accused former Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust general secretary Champat Rai, treasurer Govind Giri and former trustee Anil Mishra of being directly responsible for the irregularities. The Deputy Leader in Rajya Sabha disclosed that gold, silver and valuables donated by devotees were misappropriated, the money was invested in the stock and betting markets, loans were raised against it and interest was earned. He also questioned the expenditure of Rs. 113 crore on arrangements for the Ram Temple consecration ceremony and Rs. 10.12 crore on decorative works, highlighting inflated payments.
Describing SIT constituted to investigate the matter as a “sham”, he noted that the person heading the probe himself was under criminal investigation. He accused the BJP of protecting the accused and said the loot was continuing.
He remarked that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had personally selected every member of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust and, therefore, could not evade accountability for the theft of temple offerings. He said that the Party demanded an independent investigation under the supervision of the Supreme Court. Sunday, August 2, 2026
