Spokesperson: Shri Praveen Pathak: AICC member and former MLA Praveen Pathak, said that media reports on land deals involving the Chief Minister, his relatives and linked companies had raised “serious questions” regarding governance and the possible use of official information for private gain.

The Madhya Pradesh Congress demanded resignation of the Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav over Ujjain land deals involving members of his family. The Party also demanded an independent judicial probe into the land purchase case involving the Chief Minister, his family members and associated entities, alleging a serious conflict of interest.

He reiterated the Party’s demand for a judicial inquiry under the supervision of a retired Supreme Court judge, as well as investigations by the Enforcement Directorate, the Income Tax Department and the Lokayukta. Besides, he demanded a probe into all major land transactions in and around Ujjain district between 2021 and 2025, and disclosure of all decisions related to the master plan and infrastructure projects. Pathak also demanded that the government release a white paper on land allotments made on a lease of Re 1 and on benefits extended to trusts and institutions. He further said that the report of the inquiry into the entire matter should be tabled in the Assembly.

Citing media reports, Pathak said that between 2021 and 2025, members of the Chief Minister’s family and close relatives purchased 194 plots covering about 253 acres at an estimated value of Rs. 75 crore, taking the family’s reported total landholding to 335 acres across 245 plots.

He also referred to four real estate companies allegedly linked to family members and claimed that several land purchases coincided with major road and infrastructure projects announced or executed in and around Ujjain.

Shri Praveen Pathak disclosed that the issue was first raised by Leader of Opposition Umang Singhar on November 1, 2025, on the basis of farmers’ complaints. He claimed that the state government had acknowledged in its reply to Assembly Question No. 1189 that a complaint had been registered and a police investigation was underway.

Announcing an agitation programme, the MP Congress leader said that the Party would hold press conferences across all divisions and districts, launch an online portal for confidential corruption complaints, stage a protest outside the Chief Minister’s residence on July 15, and raise the issue during the upcoming Assembly session.

He said that the Party would also organise peaceful demonstrations during the Chief Minister’s district visits, submit a memorandum to the Governor seeking the Chief Minister’s resignation, and undertake a public awareness march from Ujjain to Bhopal if its demands were not addressed. He added that the Party has decided to observe a three-day “silent satyagraha”, during which no authorised Congress leader or spokesperson would participate in television debates, except for official press conferences.
