A Congress wave in Keralam

In the recently concluded Vidhan Sabha elections, one result stood out, the Congress-led UDF swept Keralam. As promised by our leaders, the UDF went past 100 seats in the assembly. This glorious victory is a tribute to the Congress’ commitment to the people of Keralam, the tireless efforts of our workers, and the visionary leadership of the Congress. Our heartiest congratulations to the people of Keralam on this historic result.

But this result is not just about one state. It is also an indicator of what is the kind of results we would see in the rest of India if our democracy functions as it should. The people of Keralam have rejected the politics of hate and division. Instead, they focus on real issues that matter to their lives and wellbeing. The press is vibrant and independent. It questions the government on everyday issues and refuses to fuel communal agendas. The election commission did not try to manipulate the election by creating constituencies that favour one party. Citizens were not denied their right to vote through fraudulent manipulation of the voter-list. The Keralam election was one in which the voice of the people emerged and they were allowed to speak about the issues that mattered to their lives. The result is clear. In a fair election, the Modi-RSS will be rejected by the people and they will embrace the Constitutional politics of the Congress.

This was unfortunately not the case in most other states. In these states, the BJP, with the support of a compromised media and compromised institutions of the state hijacked the democratic process. They spread communal narratives, sowed hate and division, spent vast sums of money, manipulated constituencies and deleted lacs of legitimate voters. They stole the elections. It is high time the entire nation follows the example of Keralam and rejects the anti-constitutional, anti-democratic agenda of the BJP-RSS and their corporate backers.

Jai Congress. Jai Hind. Jai Jagat
