A Systematic Campaign of Vilification and Politics by Shri Modi

New Delhi: Congress leader Shri Rahul Gandhi and several other party MPs were detained by police at Vijay Chowk here on July 26, 2022, after they staged a protest against misuse of investigating agencies.

The former Congress President and the MPs had gathered at Vijay Chowk to march towards the ‘Rashtrapati Bhavan’ to draw the President’s attention to the alleged misuse of central agencies by the government, but were stopped by the police.

Former Congress President alleged that ‘India is a police state, Modi is a king.’ He said that, “Discussions were not being allowed in the Parliament. I am not going anywhere. We wanted to go towards the President’s house. But the police are not allowing us.” he said. They also staged a protest in front of Mahatma Gandhi’s statue in the complex.

AICC General Secretary and Media Chairman Shri Jairam Ramesh said that all opposition parties have sent a memorandum to the President, the newly appointed President of India, to 15th President of the Indian republic, expressing grave concern that Parliament has not been able to function since18th because of the government’s continued refusal to have an urgent discussion on price rise and GST on food items. In addition, our Congress President Smt. Sonia Gandhi has been called to the ED, second time. We protested in the Parliament against the continued misuse of investigative agencies, as a campaign of political vendetta by the Prime Minister.

So, we walked towards Vijay Chowk, we were detained, we were forcibly arrested, we were brought in police buses to the Kingsway Camp police station including Shri Rahul Gandhi. This is nothing, but, ‘POLITICAL VENDETTA.’

Meanwhile, at the AICC headquarters too, there was commotion among Congress leaders and workers, Youth Congress, Mahila Congress and security personnel deployed there.
