They urge people to give two-thirds majority to BJP to amend the Constitution,” Shri Kharge said while addressing a rally at Rajendra Stadium in Katihar in favour of Party candidate Tariq Anwar.

In Kishanganj, Congress President highlighted the Party’s Poll Manifesto and talked about conducting a nationwide socio-economic and caste census, amending Constitution to raise 50% cap on reservations for SC, ST and OBC communities, launching the Mahalakshmi scheme to provide Rs. 1 lakh per year to every poor Indian family and filling nearly 40 lakh vacancies in sanctioned posts at various levels in the central govt.

The BJP has been rejecting the opposition charges that it would tinker with the Constitution if elected for the third term. “Democracy will end if Modi-Shah’s government returns to power,” Kharge claimed addressing the public meeting held in support of Congress candidate Siddharth Kushwaha.

Kharge Ji claimed Modi asserted nobody can change the Constitution of India and challenged him to expel leaders of the saffron party who are allegedly making statements about amending the Constitution if the BJP gets a two-thirds majority in the Lok Sabha.

While addressing large public gatherings in the two Lok Sabha seats, Kharge Ji announced that if the Congress/INDIA bloc comes to power at the Centre, it will constitute a ‘Diversity Commission’ that will measure, monitor and promote diversity in public and private employment and education, the statement said.

‘BJP govt waived ` 16 lakh crore of the rich,’ claims Congress President Shri Mallikarjun Kharge

Barpeta: While addressing a poll rally in Assam’s Barpeta on April 27, 2024, Congress President Shri Mallikarjun Kharge claimed that the BJP government waived ` 16 lakh crore of the rich but didn’t give anything to the poor or the farmers. He also accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah of selling government-owned enterprises. During his speech, Kharge credited former Congress Prime Ministers Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru and Indira Gandhi for ensuring food security by bringing the Green Revolution and White Revolution to India.

“In a country where not even a needle used to be manufactured, if someone dared to launch rockets, it was Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru and Indira Gandhi,” he said. PM Modi has ensured doom, not development for all, says Shri Kharge

Guwahati: Though Prime Minister Narendra Modi promised to take all Indians along the path of development, he ended up scripting doom for all by trying to stifle democracy, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said on April 27, 2024.

In a play of words on the BJP slogan — ‘sabka saath, sabka vikas’, meaning ‘all together, development for all” — Shri Kharge said that the PM had instead ensured ‘sabka satyanash’, meaning ‘doom for everyone’, and had failed to fulfil any of the promises he made over his last decade in power.

BJP’s patriotism claims He said that, unlike the Congress, the BJP had never fought for the country’s independence, but it keeps boasting about patriotism. “They also say that India attained independence after 2014. I feel sad that people who grew up in the Congress and became leaders also say the same thing. If the Congress was so bad, why did you waste 30 to 40 years of your life in the Party?” he asked the turncoats. ‘Modi has no credibility’ “Modiji is trying to scare everyone through the Central Bureau of Investigation CBI and the Enforcement Directorate ED…. When Modi speaks, his statement carries no weight. That is his credibility,” Shri Kharge said. He also lashed out at the BJP on the electoral bond scheme.

PM’s speeches show frustration, says Shri Kharge

Janjgir Champa, Chhattisgarh: Criticising Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent remarks on an array of topics — from wealth tax to the consumption of non-vegetarian food during Hindu festivals — Congress President Shri Mallikarjun Kharge on April 30, 2024, said that Shri Modi was speaking out of “frustration”.

The references cited by the Congress President pertained to the content of Shri Modi’s campaign speeches, including one where he claimed that the Congress intended to distribute people’s wealth to those who had more children and to infiltrators.

Countering these claims, Shri Kharge said that it was not Muslims but the poor who had more children and that he himself had five children. The 81-year-old leader said that Muslims were Indians, and appealed to the gathering to not be misled by the BJP and build the country together. Referring to another of Shri Modi’s recent statements on the ‘mangalsutra’ of women being taken away as part of a wealth survey, he said that his Party had only been speaking of a census for the backward classes.

People want change in government at Centre: Kharge Ji

Ahmedabad: Congress President Shri Mallikarjun Kharge claimed on May 3, 2024, that people want a change of government at the Centre. “Present government has failed in all aspects, it failed to control inflation and generate employment. That is the reason that the BJP is not talking about what it has delivered in the last 10 years, but talks more about other issues,” the Congress President said.

“It (government) has failed to uplift people from poverty, it has no policy to address poverty. In the last 10 years, it has not launched a single programme that helps the youth in getting employment,” he claimed.

Reacting to Modi’s allegation about the Congress connection with Pakistan, Congress President said, “We are not the one who will visit Pakistan without an invitation, nor bring any gift from Pakistan. Those who can sacrifice their lives for the nation are associated with the party.” He alleged that during the Modi rule, the government has changed labour laws many times because of which labourers are facing harassment. “If Congress comes to power, it will bring changes in all these laws,” he said.

India will be under the rule of a dictator,” Congress President said. Stating that RSS and BJP are two sides of the same coin, he said, “Modi is imposing food habits on people. In Modi’s Bharat, one has to eat and perform puja rituals as per his wish,” Shri Mallikarjun Kharge said.

“We are the only National Party to thwart BJP’s challenge and put up a secular, democratic government at the Centre,” he added.
