‘Kisan Maha Chaupal’ in Bhopal
Bhopal: Continuing his attack on the Centre over the interim trade agreement with the U.S., Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Shri Rahul Gandhi, on February 24, 2026, said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi “has sold India” to save his image and political future.
Addressing the ‘Congress Kisan Mahachaupal’, a farmers’ rally in Bhopal, the Congress leader alleged that Modiji is “compromised” and that he had closed the trade deal “under pressure due to two reasons — the Epstein files and the criminal cases against businessman Gautam Adani in the U.S.”
Shri Rahul Gandhi pointed out, other countries have cancelled their deals, but Modi cannot as he is scared and compromised.
Leader of Opposition Shri Rahul Gandhi said that if Modi was not under pressure or intimidation from US President Donald Trump, he would never have signed this deal under which he sold the country, the farmers, and handed over the crucial data to the US.
The Leader of Opposition listed two reasons for Modi’s surrender to US pressure. The first, he said, was the yet-to-be- released Epstein files, and the second was the criminal case pending against Gautam Adani in the United States. He pointed out that there were about 30 lakh more Epstein files pending to be released which contain emails, messages, videos and much more. He said that Hardeep Puri’s name has been released only as a threat that if Modi does not sign the deal, more stuff will be released from the remaining files.
Shri Rahul Gandhi said that the Adani case was not actually against the businessman, but was aimed at the financial structure of Prime Minister Modi and the BJP. He noted that Adani cannot travel to US as he is scared of being arrested there.
“This is the reason Modi told Trump that whatever he (Trump) deems fit, he (Modi) will sign on that”, he remarked, while pointing out how the Prime Minister sold the interests of the country’s farmers and handed over the entire data to him. The Leader of Opposition remarked that the US deal was pending for four months on the issue of agricultural products. He said that nobody was prepared to accept agriculture imports, not even the government. But, he added, all of a sudden Prime Minister Modi agreed to that clause also, thus putting the interests of the country’s farmers at stake.
He also referred to the circumstances surrounding the announcement of the deal by Trump on the same evening he was prevented from speaking in the Parliament. He said that he repeatedly tried to mention certain things from the book of former Army Chief Gen. M.M. Naravane, but was repeatedly interrupted and not allowed to complete his remarks. He said that this was for the first time in the country’s history that the Leader of Opposition was not allowed to speak during discussion on President’s Address.
He said that while he was being interrupted, Modi hurriedly left the House and then spoke to Trump, as Trump said it himself, and requested him to announce the trade deal, in which he completely surrendered the interests of the farmers, textile industry and also handed over crucial data to him.
Leader of Opposition Shri Rahul Gandhi pointed out that India has the largest data in the world and the US cannot compete with China without India’s data, which Modi handed over to Trump under pressure.
Referring to General Naravane’s revelations as how Modi abdicated his authority and responsibility, the Leader of Opposition said that he (Modi) ran away from taking the decision and left everything to the Army Chief.
He said that going to war is not a military decision but a political one, which must be taken by the Prime Minister. He added that Modi failed in his duty and when he wanted to raise the matter in Parliament, he was repeatedly interrupted and prevented from speaking.
Leader of Opposition and former Congress President Shri Rahul Gandhi told the workers of the Indian Youth Congress (YC) that they do not have to be scared of anyone, in the wake of arrests of YC President Uday Bhanu Chib and other workers by the Delhi Police, in connection with the outfit’s ‘shirtless’ protest against the trade deal at the AI Impact Summit in New Delhi.
“Our Youth Congress workers, our Babbar Sher (lions), you won’t be scared of anyone. You have the blood of the Congress Party, you have the blood of patriotism, you brought the green revolution and gave the country grain and food, and Narendra Modi has finished that work. You brought the industry and brought the IT revolution in the 21st century by giving data, and congratulated and praised the courage of the Indian Youth Congress leaders and workers, who exposed Modi on his compromise and surrender.
