NEET UG 2026 Paper Leak: Congress Leadership Questions Accountability in Exam System

New Delhi: Congress leadership has raised serious concerns over the alleged NEET UG 2026 paper leak controversy, questioning the credibility and accountability of India’s examination system. His remarks came amid ongoing investigations into alleged irregularities linked to the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET 2026) conducted by the NTA. Congress President Shri Mallikarjun Kharge claimed that the country’s examination framework had deteriorated into a “symbol of disorder, distrust and chaos” under the BJP-led government, alleging that repeated controversies surrounding NEET reflected deeper institutional failure.

• In a post on social media platform X, Shri Kharge alleged that NEET papers had been leaked on at least four occasions — in 2016, 2021, 2024 and 2026 — raising serious concerns about the integrity of one of India’s most important competitive examinations. • “Under the Modi government, the examination system has become a complete symbol of disorder, distrust and chaos,” Shri Mallikarjun Kharge said. • Referring to media reports from Rajasthan’s Sikar district, the Congress Chief alleged that a handwritten “guess paper” circulated before the examination that contained 135 questions that directly matched the actual NEET paper. • “It was reportedly being sold openly, yet the Central government did not even get wind of it,” he asked, accusing the BJP government of failing to dismantle what he termed a growing “paper leak mafia”. • Congress President further accused the government of failing to create jobs, mishandling recruitment examinations and engaging in “cover-ups” whenever allegations of irregularities surfaced. Taking to X, Leader of Opposition Shri Rahul Gandhi alleged that the examination system is repeatedly failing and claimed that the paper leaks have become a recurring issue in major competitive examinations.

He also said that more than 22 lakh aspirants sacrificed their sleep and dedicated a whole year to prepare for this exam, only to have their hard work openly traded away in a single night. This catastrophic failure is part of a persistent, decade-long pattern. Over the last 10 years, the system has witnessed a staggering 89 paper leaks, forcing 48 re-exams. Each instance triggers the standard routine of administrative assurances, which ultimately fades into absolute silence.

Modi ji, when you put the bill of all your failures on the public, the future of the poor children’s future also comes in that same bill. The trust of 22 lakh children has been broken. And no threat to the dreams of India’s youth is bigger than the Modi government. I am with the youth of India. This time is very difficult - I know. But this system will not remain like this. We will change it together.
