‘No Confidence Motion’ against Lok Sabha Speaker

‘Lok Sabha is the expression of people of India; it represents the whole country, not one Party’: Leader of Opposition Shri Rahul Gandhi

New Delhi: The Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Shri Rahul Gandhi on March 11, 2026, said that he was repeatedly interrupted and prevented from speaking in the House just because he was trying to raise very important issues concerning the country.

Speaking during the ‘No Confidence Motion’ against Speaker Shri Om Birla in the Lok Sabha on March 11, 2026, he said that the discussion concerned the democratic process and the role of the Speaker, while his name was being repeatedly mentioned and remarks made about him.

Leader of Opposition Shri Rahul Gandhi noted that the Lok Sabha is the expression of the people of India; the House represents the whole country and not one party, asserting that members of the Opposition were repeatedly stopped whenever they rose to speak.

Referring to the discussion on President’s Address, he said that for the first time in India’s parliamentary history, the Leader of the Opposition was not allowed to speak in the House. He said that during the discussion, he had raised “fundamental questions” regarding compromises made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He added that he had also raised issues referred to by former Army Chief Manoj Naravane in his book, besides those relating to Jeffrey Epstein and industrialist Gautam Adani, but was “silenced” in the House.

“These issues are fundamental to the people of India,” Leader of Opposition Shri Rahul Gandhi said, reiterating that the Prime Minister has been “compromised” and asserting that the consequences of such compromises are widely known.
