Shri Rahul Gandhi on LPG Crisis

New Delhi: On April 6, 2026, the Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Shri Rahul Gandhi commented by saying that Modi Ji had said: “We will handle the LPG Gas Crisis just like COVID.” And indeed, that is exactly what he did.

Just like with COVID—devoid of policy, full of grand announcements, and placing the burden squarely on the poor.

For migrant laborers earning a daily wage of ₹ 500–800, cooking gas has become unaffordable. Returning home at night, these workers lack even the money to light their stoves. The result? Leave the city; flee back to the village.

The very laborers who serve as the backbone of textile mills and factories are—today—crumbling under the strain.

The Textile sector is already in the ICU. Manufacturing is gasping for breath. And where did this crisis originate? From that diplomatic blunder committed at the negotiating table—a blunder the government refuses to acknowledge to this day.

When arrogance becomes policy, the economy crumbles, laborers are forced to migrate, industries are ruined, and the nation is pushed back by decades.

There is but one question: why is it always the poor who perish first in every crisis? Do not remain silent. This is not merely a question for the poor; it is a question for us all.
