Chhattisgarh has become the state with the lowest unemployment rate in the country. According to the August 2022 report of the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE), 99.6 out of 100 people in Chhattisgarh have jobs or means of employment. CMIE data shows that the unemployment rate in Chhattisgarh is at the lowest level i.e. 0.4 per cent in August 2022. In this way, Chhattisgarh has been coronated as the state with the lowest unemployment rate in the entire country, whereas in September 2018, the unemployment rate in Chhattisgarh was at the highest level of 22.3 percent. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, the unemployment rate in the state has continuously been controlled in the last 3 years 9 months, that too, at a time when the unemployment rate in the whole country is at 8.3 percent. The reduction in unemployment rate in Chhattisgarh is credited to the plans of the state government to balance the urban-rural economy and create new employment opportunities, due to which work is available to all. Apart from this, there are regular recruitment examinations of Public Service Commission and Professional Examination Board in the state which paves the way for jobs.

As soon as he assumed power in Chhattisgarh, Chief Minister Shri Baghel implemented schemes like loan-waivers and increase in support price, following the suggestions of former National President of Congress, Shri Rahul Gandhi; which improved the condition of the economy to a great extent. Lakhs of employment opportunities got generated in the state through agriculture. The number of farmers increased from 15 lakhs to 26 lakhs. Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojna, Godhan Nyay Yojna, Suraji Gao Yojna, Narva-Garva-Ghurva-Bari Programme, Rajiv Gandhi Gramin Bhumihin Kisan Nyay Yojana, formulation of a new industrial policy, better system of collection of forest and agricultural produce, localized level processing of produce and value addition, establishment of rural industrial parks, increase in the collection rate of minor forest produce and purchase of 65 types of minor forest produce at support price, increase in the remuneration rate for collection of tendu leaves, agricultural status to Fisheries and lac production, promotion of traditional artisans, weavers and entrepreneurs, establishment of C-Mart in every district have helped lakhs of people. Regular teachers were recruited in the schools. Along with the expansion of Atmanand School, English medium college is also being started. Expanding the Godhan Nyay Yojna, purchase of cow urine has been started. Fertilizers and pesticides will also be made from the purchased cow urine, which will create new employment opportunities. Gauthans built in villages are also being upgraded into Rural Industrial Parks, where processing units like oil mill, pulse mill, mini rice mill are being set up. Various products are also being manufactured in Gauthans.

Youth became skilled with Mukhyamantri Kaushal Yojna

Youth were made skilled through Mukhyamantri Kaushal Yojna in Chhattisgarh. Through this Yojna, skill training was imparted to more than 39 thousand youth in the state. The government has registered more than 5 thousand unemployed engineers through the e-category registration system, in which work worth about 200 crores has been given to 15 hundred youths. More than 26 lakh employment opportunities were created under MGNREGA. Similarly, 14 lakh families are getting work every year from the forest. According to the data of National Rural Livelihood Mission, about 22 lakh members are registered in Self Help Groups. All of them are associated with various livelihood related activities. In this, Gauthan Samiti, Van Dhan Vikas Kendra Samiti, Bank Sakhi are earning their livelihood through forest produce collection committees.
