Election Commission acting in a “dictatorial” manner: Leader of Opposition Shri Rahul Gandhi in Raebareli

Raebareli, Day 1: Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Shri Rahul Gandhi, on September 10, 2025, mounted fresh attack on the BJP during his visit to his parliamentary constituency Raebareli. On the way to Rae Bareli, he stopped at an eatery and addressed the Congress workers saying -“Earlier, people used to smell rat in the electoral process but did not have evidence. However, now we have the evidence and yet the vote theft is going on. We have to stop it,” he exhorted the Party workers. He added that despite producing the evidence and protesting against vote theft, the EC was acting in an autocratic manner. “Under such adverse conditions, you did not leave Congress’ hands and that is commendable,” said the Congress MP Shri Rahul Gandhi. He assured the Congressmen of protecting the rights of the people. In an interaction with media persons before an event, Shri Rahul Gandhi said: “The main slogan is ‘vote chor, gaddi chhod’ and that is being proved across the country. We will prove it again and again in more and more dramatic ways.” He alleged that BJP leaders are “disturbed and panicked” following the exposure of what he described as large-scale “vote theft” in recent elections. Addressing supporters, Shri Rahul Gandhi said that the Congress slogan “Vote chor, gaddi chhod” (vote thieves, give up power) is resonating across the country. “The truth of vote theft has now come to light. BJP leaders are rattled, and in the days to come, this will be proved even more dramatically through Congress protests,” he said. Speaking at a conference of the Prajapati Samaj, Shri Rahul Gandhi also targeted the RSS and the BJP on issues of caste and representation. “Ninety per cent of the country’s population comprises OBCs, Dalits and tribals. But the BJP-RSS do not want them to move forward. They want Dalits to remain where they are, industrialists to remain where they are,” he said.

He accused the ruling party of blocking opportunities for backward and marginalized communities. “Whether it is corporate India, the bureaucracy, or the government — 90 per cent of Indians are being stopped from participating. Name one owner of a major hospital who belongs to the OBC community. You won’t find one,” he said, adding that land and rights of marginalized groups were being snatched away. On the caste census issue, Shri Rahul Gandhi said: “Modi, himself an OBC, does not speak on caste census. I raised the issue in Parliament. PM spoke for one and a half hours, but with no reference to caste census,” claimed the Congress leader. He adding that the Prajapati community, despite its estimated population of nine crore, has been erased from mainstream history. In another programme, Shri Rahul Gandhi reiterated his charge of electoral malpractice, claiming that “Earlier people suspected something fishy, but now there is proof — votes are being stolen.” He accused the Election Commission of acting in a “dictatorial” manner and said that people’s democratic rights are under threat. “The elections are being stolen, and the people are being robbed of their rights,” Shri Rahul Gandhi said, asserting that Congress workers are “lions” fighting to protect the Constitution.

Upcoming evidence on ‘vote theft’ will make everything clear: Shri Rahul Gandhi

Day 2: Congress MP and LoP Shri Rahul Gandhi repeated his allegation of vote theft reiterating that governments were being formed in the country through vote fraud. He said this as he wind up his two-day visit to Rae Bareli on September 11, 2025. “The BJP leaders are agitated. I want to tell them that everything will be clear once we drop the hydrogen bomb as the next set of evidence, proving vote theft,” said Shri Rahul Gandhi during an informal interaction with media persons in Rae Bareli. “We have given the evidence of fraud in black and white. Just wait for the next series of evidence. I want to tell the BJP not to get perturbed as the upcoming evidence would be a hydrogen bomb which will make everything clear,” he added. He said that under the present government, the Constitution of India was in danger as the government was trying to snatch people’s rights. Earlier in the day, Shri Rahul Gandhi presided over a meeting of the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA). The DISHA meeting is held every quarter to discuss the development projects in the region. Several public representatives, including Amethi MP Shri KL Sharma attended the meeting.

Janata Darbar and Constituents’ Grievances

During his Raebareli trip, Shri Rahul Gandhi also held a Janata darbar at the NTPC guest house where nearly 1,000 people presented grievances ranging from housing to poor roads.. This marks Leader of Opposition Shri Rahul Gandhi’s sixth visit to Raebareli since his Lok Sabha victory, with his rhetoric focused heavily on electoral malpractice and constitutional concerns.
