Extended CWC: A Report

An Extended Working Committee meeting in connection with the AICC meeting was held at the historic venue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Memorial, Ahmedabad. This meeting was actually a significant moment in the Party’s journey, taking place shortly after the centenary celebration of Mahatma Gandhi’s presidency of the Congress and during the 150th Birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel- two towering leaders of Indian National Congress and Indian Freedom movement. In Congress’ 140 -year history, the Indian National Congress met in Gujarat for the sixth time and for the third time in Ahmedabad.

The meeting was presided over by Hon’ble Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge Ji, and attended by Hon’ble CPP Chairperson Madam Sonia Gandhi and Hon’ble Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi and all our Chief Ministers and CWC Members, Permanent and Special Invitees, Pradesh Congress Committee Presidents, CLP leaders, CEC members and Parliamentary Party office-bearers. The meeting recalled the deep historical association between Indian National Congress and the state of Gujarat.

158 members were present. A special proposal on Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was discussed and passed. Apart from this, two proposals – one on national issues and the other on the political situation in Gujarat, were discussed. . In this extended CWC meeting, two major resolutions, including one specific to Gujarat state were discussed. Around 35 members, including senior most leaders participated in that discussion. They gave some inputs for incorporating in the resolutions. The drafting committee finalized the final resolutions before the AICC meeting.

‘Nyay Path: Sankalp, Samarpan and Sangharsh’. Path of Justice: Resolution, Dedication and Struggle- this is the theme of this session. In Belagavi session, the resolution on organizational restructuring of the Congress Party in 2025 was already passed. This year was dedicated for the complete reform of the organizational structure. A massive organizational reshuffle was decided to be held. Guidelines for the reorganization were also decided to be formed. Congress in-charges and General Secretaries are on the job of doing all these things. A prayer meeting in Sabarmati Ashram was held. All extended CWC members participated in that prayer meeting followed by a cultural event.

The agenda program of the AICC’s session. • At 9:30 am, Hon’ble Congress President hoisted the flag along with the Extended CWC members • After that, Hon’ble Congress President proceeded to the dais along with the CWC, PCC Presidents and CLP leaders. • Briefing of agenda of the meeting was given, then welcome by the reception committee of the AICC… • PCC President of Gujarat welcomed the gathering, • The condolence resolution was moved after that. • Hon’ble Congress President delivered presidential address around 10 o’clock in the morning, • Resolutions were moved for discussion. • Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi addressed the meeting. • A concluding ceremony around 5:30 pm, after that session was over.
