Good luck for Indian contingent to 31st Rio Olympic Games 2016

New Delhi: India have sent their largest contingent ever 118 athletes to the Rio Olympics. On the eve of the opening ceremony of the Rio Olympic Games 2016, Congress President Smt. Sonia Gandhi wished great success to the Indian Contingent of athletes.

Underlining that entire country will be watching the games with keen interest, she said that our thoughts & prayers will remain with all Indian players. Smt. Gandhi said, ‘Each Indian athlete in Rio is a symbol of excellence, perseverance and hard work. Urging the athletes to bring out the best in their character and games’, Smt. Gandhi added, ‘The Olympic values of friendship, respect and excellence may dominate the spirit of each participant and be their strength now and always.’ Stressing that the contribution to national pride and glory will forever remain etched on the Nation’s consciousness, Smt. Gandhi has also congratulated team management, coaches and organization responsible for preparing the contingent for the games.
