Rajgir, Bihar: Leader of Opposition Shri Rahul Gandhi, who was on a day’s visit to Bihar’s Gaya, Nalanda on June 6, 2025, said that the Prime Minister Narender Modi has a habit of surrendering. While speaking at the ‘Samvidhan Suraksha Sammelan’ in Rajgir here, Shri Rahul Gandhi said, “Bihar was once considered the land of truth, justice, and non-violence.” He highlighted that Bihar had shown the path to the entire world, people from across the globe used to come to study at Nalanda University. Modi, Nitish made Bihar India’s crime capital
Congress leader Shri Rahul Gandhi slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar over the law and order situation in the State. On his fifth visit this year to the poll-bound State, Shri Rahul Gandhi told a gathering in Rajgir’s Nalanda, the home district of the Chief Minister, that the BJP and Shri Kumar have turned Bihar from the ‘land of knowledge’ to the country’s ‘crime capital’.
“But today, the situation has completely changed. People from Bihar are now forced to migrate to other states and even abroad because there are no employment opportunities here. Today, Bihar has become the crime capital of the country,” he said highlighting the issue of migration and high crime rate.
On Caste Census
Reiterating his commitment to caste census and removing the 50 percent cap on reservations, he said, he will ensure both these are done. “And once done (caste census), there will be a paradigm shift in the way development is carried out in the country,” the former Congress President said. He disclosed that after joining politics, he learnt that “90 percent of the country’s population has no real representation anywhere.” The backward classes, Dalits, Adivasis, and extremely backward communities lack meaningful representation in key areas such as the corporate sector, judiciary, bureaucracy, and among the owners of private hospitals and other institutions.
On the other hand, Shri Rahul Gandhi added, these 90 percent people can only be found among the MGNREGA and the gig workers. He said, while Dalits, backward classes, tribals, extremely backward communities, and the poor from the general category make up 90 per cent of the population, they control less than 5 per cent of the country’s resources.
Reiterating that the BJP and the RSS come under pressure very easily and they take no time to surrender, he said, “In Lok Sabha, in front of Modi ji that the caste census would definitely be conducted. And you know he has a habit of surrendering.” Prime Minister’s silence on ceasefire
“And I knew that the day we put a little pressure, they would completely surrender,” he said. He also questioned PM Modi’s silence over US President Donald Trump’s claims about brokering ceasefire between India and Pakistan. “PM Modi is silent on US President Donald Trump’s claims of mediating peace between India and Pakistan. Trump has said 11 times, 11 times, that I made Narendra Modi surrender. He has said it publicly 11 times.” he said.
“Narendra Modi is unable to respond. Narendra Modi is unable to say that Donald Trump is lying,” he said. Referring to the Constitution, he said, it is not merely a 75-year–old book, but a collection of thoughts and philosophy of thousands of years. “The Constitution embodies an ancient philosophy — the thoughts of Lord Shiva, Buddha, Mahatma Gandhi, Dr. Ambedkar, Periyar, Narayana Guru, and Basavanna”, he said, while adding, “this ideological battle has been going on for thousands of years as on one side stands Mahatma Gandhi and on the other, Godse.” During his visit, Shri Rahul Gandhi first visited Gaya’s Gehlaur, the village of Dashrath Manjhi, who is popularly called the mountain man and stayed some time at his residence. He then went to Rajgir in Nalanda and then in evening, returned to Gaya to address Mahila Congress workers. This was Shri Rahul Gandhi’s sixth visit to Bihar this year, where assembly polls for 243 member House is scheduled in October and November.
