Shri K.C. Venugopal said- The Congress Working Committee met on August 28, 2022 under the Chairpersonship of Hon’ble Congress President Smt. Sonia Gandhi. It considered and approved the final schedule given by our CEA Chairman Madhusudan Mistry Ji. The Congress President’s election will be held on October 17, 2022, as per our procedure, CP election will be held in the state headquarters. All the Working Committee Members, Permanent Invitees, Special Invitees and both the Chief Ministers of the party attended the meeting. Unanimously, CWC approved the final schedule given by the CEA Chairman.

The CWC reiterated its resolve to make the ‘Mehangai Par Halla Bol’ rally in New Delhi on September 4 and the launch of the ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ from Kanyakumari to Kashmir on September 7 and its continuation thereafter a resounding success.

The CWC extended its best wishes to Congress President Smt. Sonia Gandhi for a full and speedy recovery.

Replying to a question regarding nomination before the election of Congress President, Shri Madhusudan Mistry said that the nomination will be held here in Delhi. Nomination of those candidates and those delegates who want to fill the nomination form will be done here, in which more than 9000 delegates will vote in their respective Headquarters.

Replying to another question, Shri Madhusudan Mistry said that those who raised these questions have gone through the same process and all this has happened through the same process and in their own parties, so I do not want to comment much on that, that's my answer to you.

On another question Shri K.C. Venugopal said- We have many issues - agitation programmes and finalization of the PCC Members also should be done in a proper way. It is quite natural; Actually, it is 28 days’ delay, basically.

On another question Shri K.C. Venugopal said- There will be no issue. There will be a proper coordination of Congress President election and ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ and other party programmes. Accordingly, we will fix the programme, we will finalize the programme. There will be no problem. Those who want to vote for Congress President’s Election, if there is a voting, they will get an opportunity to vote.

On another question, Shri Venugopal said- It is an open Election. Anybody can contest the election.

Shri Jairam Ramesh added that CWC thanked Mistry ji that he has fixed this schedule after much deliberation with others; considering it deeply for so long. I want to reiterate that Congress party is the only big political party in our country where such elections are held, and there is no such other party. Congress is the only big political party where elections have been held, are happening and will continue to happen at every level of Congress and especially for the post of Congress President.
