New Delhi: Leader of Opposition Shri Rahul Gandhi on March 19, 2026, listening to the delegation of small truck and bus body builders of Rajasthan in the Parliament, met with Union Transport and Highway Minister Shri Nitin Gadkari ji.

For a long time, these producers have been building bodies for companies like Tata, but now there’s a talk of giving contracts to big companies from outside. New government rules and heavy fees could force them to close businesses, threatening millions of families on daily bread.

There are 1000+ units only in Rajasthan, which employs 40-50 thousand people. There are 10,000+ units across the country which are closed and millions of jobs are over. This has always been Modi government’s policy: Benefit to big corporates, attack on small industries. It’s a game of ‘quid pro quo’ - take contract from one hand, and funding from the other, which small businesses are not capable of.

Neither financial help, nor technical support to MSME, while real employment is generated by them. Union Transport and Highway Minister Gadkari Ji gave assurance by showing positive attitude after listening to these problems: • The rules will be simplified • Financial assistance will be provided from banks • Shade and electricity connections will be ensured • Delay and corruption will be reduced Their effort to resolve from bilateral perspective is commendable.
