Stand Together and Fight for Employment

Excerpts of the speech of Shri Rahul Gandhi at IYC delivered in hindi.

Shri Mallikarjun Kharge ji, KC Venugopal ji, Shaktisinh Gohil ji, Krishna Allavaru ji, Srinivas ji, our all the office-bearers of the Youth Congress, all the young brothers and sisters, our friends from the press, we welcome you all here. First of all, I want to thank each and every worker of the Youth Congress; for the Youth Congress had been the only organization to continue fighting even during the time of Corona and to continue helping the public. So, thank you very much for this.

Presently, there is no bigger issue facing the country than the issue of employment. Am I right or not? (Youth Congress workers answered in affirmation). The Prime Minister speaks about everything, but Prime Minister Narendra Modi does not speak a word about employment. He had promised to provide employment to two crore youth every year. Did 12 crore youth get employment in the last seven years? (Youth Congress workers said- no). On the contrary, lakhs of youngsters were rendered unemployed. This government is a government of ‘Hum Do, Hamare Do’ and this government works only for 2-3 industrialists.

You see that today, the opposition has held placards inside the Lok Sabha, but you will not see this truth on Lok Sabha television. You will see BJP MPs speaking on Lok Sabha television, but the reality of Lok Sabha will not be visible to India. Similarly, Narendra Modi ji works to hide the truth of India, to suppress it. That is his job which he does for 2-3 big industrialists of India.

I asked my friends from the press, you may ask them, does the government of India allow India to show the truth of India? Does the Government of India allow them to talk about employment? Does it let them talk about farmers? (Youth Congress workers said- no).

Yesterday a little girl was raped, was murdered, did you see that? Did you see that anywhere in the media? So, what is their goal? Their goal is to suppress the voice of the youth of India in colleges, universities, on roads, in towns, in villages. Because they know, the day the youth of India start talking to their heart’s content, the day the youth of India start speaking the truth, Narendra Modi’s government will come to an end that day.

Brothers and sisters, someone in the Parliament told me that this Pegasus issue is a small issue, why is the Congress party and the entire opposition being adamant on this? Do remember one thing, the mobile phone in your hand is your voice today. You can say whatever you want to say with this mobile phone. You need to understand that Narendra Modi ji has installed Pegasus in your phone. Not only in my phone but Narendra Modi Ji has put the idea of Pegasus inside the phone of every Indian youth. What is the idea? -If you spoke the truth, then Narendra Modi is inside your phone. Pegasus is inside your phone. So, the youth of India has to understand that just like your voice is suppressed, like farmers’ voice is suppressed, like your voice regarding employment is suppressed, Pegasus is a way to suppress voice and no one can suppress the voice of the youth of India. The work of this organization, the work of Youth Congress is to strengthen the voice of the youth of India, and I am glad that you are doing this work.

Open the doors of the Youth Congress, break the walls and the crores of youth who are unhappy with Narendra Modi today, are unhappy with Pegasus, are unhappy with the government of ‘Hum Do - Hamare Do’, those who are looking for employment, those who are looking for the future, raise their voice loud and clear.

You will also have to understand the reason as to why you, the youth of India, are not getting employment today? There is only one reason behind this - Brothers and sisters – small businesses, medium businesses, small shopkeepers, grocery stores, provide employment to India. Big industrialists do not provide employment to India and Narendra Modi’s government is destroying unorganized people and unorganized businesses. Demonetization was done, GST was brought, why? - to eliminate small shopkeepers, small and medium size businesses. To hand over whatever money they have to ‘Hum Do, Hamare Do’. The result is that this country is not able to generate employment today because of Narendra Modi. Brothers and sisters, remember, as long as Narendra Modi is the Prime Minister, as long as there is a government of ‘Hum Do, Hamare Do’, till then the youth of India will not get employment. So, the Youth Congress and the youth of India will have to fight this battle. This fight is being fought only for the future of the Indian youth.

The boys who are in schools today, the girls who are in schools today, in colleges, in universities, you will have to understand the point that there is no employment in your future. If India continues on this path, you are not going to get employment today, or tomorrow, or in the next 5-10 years. You will not be able to help your children or your parents. Why? Because Narendra Modi ji has created a partnership. That partnership is not with the youth of India, or with the poor of India, or with small businessmen, or medium businesses, or farmers and laborers. Narendra Modi’s partnership is with the 2-3 biggest industrialists of India. This partnership is attacking the soul of India, the future of the Indian youth. That is why Narendra Modi ji cannot talk of employment today and cannot talk of employment even tomorrow, because his partnership is with someone else.

You are fighting, I stand with you. Stand together and fight for employment. Heartfelt thanks to all of you. Thank you. Jai Hind.
