Why is Delhi being converted into a fortress?

Shri Rahul Gandhi said- Hello, today I want to present a few points on the problems of farmers, on whatever is happening around Delhi and the budget.

Today, Delhi is surrounded by our farmers. They are the people who give us sustenance; they are the people who work for us. Why is Delhi being converted into a fortress? Why have we been threatening our farmers, beating our farmers, killing our farmers? Why is the Government not talking to the farmers and why is the Government not resolving this problem? This Problem is not good for our country. It is not good for the peace and harmony of our country. It is not good for the future of our Kisaans, they need clarity.

The Prime Minister is saying that the offer is still on the table to postpone these laws for two years, what does that mean? Either you believe that you need to get rid of the laws or you don’t. So, I feel that this needs to be resolved as soon as possible and the government needs to listen because Kisaans are not going away.

I know the farmers very well, they will neither go away nor will they back down. In the end, the government will have to withdraw. Everyone will benefit if the government retreats only today. This was the point on farmers…….

My expectation with the budget was that the government would support 99 percent people of India. This budget is the budget of 1 percent of the population. Snatching money from the people working in our small and medium industries, our workers, our farmers, our forces, you have filled the pockets of those 5-10-15 people. You are talking about privatization. Only they will reap benefit from that too. What does India need? India needs to put money in the hands of its people. Why? Because if we want to kickstart our economy, it will be done only through consumption. It cannot be done from the supply side. So, had the government done something like Nyay scheme, had given money to small-medium industries, had protected them, the economy could have started. Paying money on the supply side will not start the economy. They have been incessantly trying it. They are giving money to 1 percent, thinking that the economy of India will start which is actually not the case. This is reality!

And the most important thing for me is that China comes inside Indian territory. It encroaches upon thousands of kilometers of our land and what message do you give to China in the budget - that we will not increase our defense expenditure? You increased three to four thousand crores, and the message you gave to China is that you are welcome, do what you want to do, we will not support our army. Our young men who are in Ladakh, who are our Air Force pilots, what would they be feeling presently? They would be feeling that we have such a great difficulty and our government is not giving money to the Forces and whatever we have which belongs to the Forces, is being given away to the same 5- 10 people.

The country is not going to benefit from this. I am repeating. The country is not benefiting from this. Currently, the Commitment of Forces is 100 percent. Thus, the commitment of the government should be 110 percent. It means that the government should provide whatever our army needs, whatever our Airforce needs, whatever our navy needs. What kind of patriotism is it that in such chilling winters, our army is standing in Ladakh and you are not paying them money? What sort of Nationalism is this? u
