Smt. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra meets kin of the man who died during R-Day tractor rally, backs judicial probe in death

New Delhi: Congress leader Smt. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on 4th February, 2021, visited UP’s Rampur and met the family members of the man who died during the January 26 tractor rally protest in Delhi.

She said that the deceased’s family wants a judicial probe into the death, adding that she will “fully support” their demand.

Smt. Priyanka Gandhi met the family members of the deceased and consoled them. She also addressed the crowd gathered for the prayer meet for Navreet Singh and said, “We stand with the family of Navreet Singh. Your protest is justified, and you are fighting for a true cause. It is wrong when those in power call your protest as Khalistani or inspired by terrorists. We will not let Navreet Singh’s sacrifice go in vain. We will fight till the end. Congress is concerned about you and it is sad to see people using your protest for political gains. Congress leaders will fight with you till government rolls back these Black Farm laws.”

She said that the leaders who cannot hear the pain of the poor, farmers and countrymen “are of no use”.

“The pain of the farmers, the countrymen will have to be recognised and respected. If it is not respected, then all the farmers from all over the country will come together,” Smt. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said.

Hitting out at the government over fortifications at the three farmers’ protest sites at Delhi borders, Smt. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said that Delhi’s borders now “look like India’s international borders”.

“What kind of terror are the farmers spreading? Since two months they are only asking the government to listen to them, discuss the issue with them and consult them before making a law for them,” she said.

Reacting to PM Modi’s “just one phone call away” appeal to the farmers, Smt. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said, “Can the Prime Minister not hear the farmers who have been voicing out their resentment towards the farm laws since two months at Delhi’s borders? How far are the farmers from the Prime Minister’s residence? The government’s arrogance is such that they cannot even sit in their cars and go to the protest sites where 2-3 lakh people have been sitting since days.”

“I say ring up the Prime Minister, let’s see who picks up the phone,” she added.

Smt. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also interacted with the locals of Rampur after meeting the family members of Navreet Singh.
