Chandigarh: In a statement issued to the media on January 3, 2022, Kumari Selja, President, Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee, said that the Education-Minister, who failed to get admission in private schools for children belonging to poor families, should resign from his post by apologizing publicly to these families. The statement of the Education-Minister that he is making changes to abolish Education Rule 134A to ensure that children from poor families do not face any problems in future, is baseless.
She further said, “The Congress will oppose every attempt to abolish Section 134A of the Haryana Education Rule because with the abolition of Rule 134A, the provision of free education in private schools to the children of poor families earning an annual income of Rs. 2 lakhs will come to an end.”
According to her, the state government has bowed before the lobby of private school operators. The people of the state will never forgive him for this step.
