’माई बहिन मान योजना’ को ’भारतीय राष्ट्रीय कांग्रेस’ ने बिहार की महिलाओं के लिए शुरू किया है। यह योजना महिलाओं को आर्थिक आत्मनिर्भर बनाने के उद्देश्य से शुरू की गई है। 

इस योजना के अंतर्गत बिहार की महिलाओं को प्रत्येक महीने 2500 रुपए की आर्थिक सहायता दी जाएगी।

माई बहिन मान योजना का मुख्य उद्देश्य महिलाओं की सशक्तिकरण और आर्थिक आत्मनिर्भरता को बढ़ावा देने के साथ ही सामाजिक भागीदारी सुनिश्चित करना है। यह योजना महिलाओं को सामाजिक तौर पर मजबूत करेगी, महिलाएं आर्थिक और सामाजिक निर्णयों को लेने के लिए भी आत्मनिर्भर बनेगी। 

योजना के तहत बिहार में महागठबंधन की सरकार बनते ही ज़रूरतमंद महिलाओं को प्रतिमाह 2500 रुपए सीधे उनके बैंक खाते में दिए जाएंगे। 

इस आगामी योजना का लाभ लेने के लिए महिलाओं को दिए गए नंबर पर मिस्ड कॉल करना हैं और कांग्रेस कार्यकर्ता के माध्यम से अपना फॉर्म भरना है।

The main objective of the Mai Bahin Maan Yojana is to empower women, strengthen their economic independence, and ensure their active participation in society. This scheme will help women become socially strong and capable of making independent economic and social decisions.


Under this scheme, as soon as the Mahagathbandhan forms the government in Bihar, needy women will receive ₹2,500 per month directly into their bank accounts.

On 27th April 2025, the Indian National Congress (INC) and the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) jointly organised a commemorative event in honour of the 134th birth anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the principal architect of the Indian Constitution and a towering figure in the fight for social justice, equality, and human rights.

This significant event brings together leaders, students, members of civil society and the legal fraternity to reflect upon Dr. Ambedkar’s enduring legacy and the relevance of his vision in contemporary India. The program included a keynote address by Dr. Abhishek Manu Singhvi (Senior Advocate and Member of Parliament), focused on the concept of Federalism, the Indian Constitution, and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’ contributions to social reform, and constitutional law in the Indian Constitution.

Dr. Singhvi engaged in meaningful discussions with the resilient women lawyers of the Mysore Legal Department, emphasizing on the importance of greater representation of women in the legal field.

Information regarding INC Assam candidates with pending criminal cases

**July 3rd**

Congress President Sonia Gandhi in a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged the government to extend reservation for OBC candidates in the all-India quota for medical and dental seats to state/UT medical institutions. She said reservation for OBC candidates under the all-India quota is currently restricted to the Central institutions and must be extended. She added that the denial of reservations to OBCs in state medical institutions under the all-India quota violates the objective of the 93rd Constitutional Amendment. The Amendment gives special provisions for any socially and educationally backward class, caste or tribe to gain admission to educational institutions. Denying this would be a barrier to access to medical education for the deserving OBC candidates.

**June 22**

In a sharp letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress President Smt. Sonia Gandhi pushed the Centre to extend the supply of 5 kg of free food grains by three months to each member of "priority households." She wrote that the extension should be applicable to all poor families who have been massively impacted by the coronavirus lockdown, including the lakhs of migrants whose condition made headlines over the past months. She also said that several states had asked for the same and suggested that temporary ration cards be issued for all households that were excluded from the Public Distribution System.

**April 25**

In a letter to Prime Minister Modi, Congress President Sonia Gandhi implored the government to announce a financial package of Rs 1 lakh crore for the revival of the MSMEs which have been adversely impacted by COVID-19. She said that if ignored, the financial crisis in the sector can have a devastating and expansive ripple effect on the entire country's economy. Full of suggestions including the Rs 1 lakh crore "MSME Wage Protection" package, her letter urged the government to also include a credit guarantee fund of an equivalent amount and a 24X7 helpline for helping them out of this crisis.

**April 13**

Congress chief Sonia Gandhi wrote to Prime Minister Modi urging him to extend the provision of providing free food grains to the National Food Security Act (NFSA) beneficiaries for another three months. She wrote that it was extremely tragic that lakhs of people across India are hungry and facing shortage of food because of the countrywide lockdown. With several suggestions, she requested the prime minister to consider extending the free food grains provision from 5kg/person to 10kg/person and to vulnerable people even if they don’t hold ration cards.

Congress President and CPP Chairperson Smt. Sonia Gandhi writes to PM Modi suggesting various measures to fight the COVID-19 pandemic. The five suggestions in her letter that include ways to save funds and fight the pandemic are:

**April 1**

President Sonia Gandhi wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking advance payment of 21 days' wages to MGNREGA workers across India. She urged the government to help them so that they can survive without work during the coronavirus lockdown. In her letter, Mrs. Gandhi highlighted that a large number of rural poor don’t have work and around 8 crore MGNREGA workers don’t have an alternative source of income due to the countrywide lockdown, and so, they should be paid money in advance to tide over the current crisis.

**March 27**

Observing the migrant crisis in the country, Congress President Sonia Gandhi wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to draw his attention to their plight. Migrant workers are in the middle of the biggest ever reverse migration process due to closed borders forcing them to return to their hometowns on foot. Smt. Gandhi urged Modi to issue national advisories to make available one time transport services to those walking back to their homes. She also suggested that District Collectors be advised to extend all possible assistance to those who cannot afford to stay in lodges or guest houses.

**March 26**

Congress President & CPP Chairperson Smt. Sonia Gandhi writes a letter to PM Modi with suggestions that the govt should immediately undertake in this lockdown period. While the opposition leader voiced her support to the 21-day lockdown announced in view of the coronavirus outbreak, she urged the government to take account of her eight suggestions. Mrs. Gandhi, in her letter, stressed on the need to provide doctors, nurses and other healthcare workers with personal protection equipment, including the N-95 mask and hazmat suits and the need to provide aid to vulnerable sections of the society.

**March 23**

Congress president Sonia Gandhi urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to roll out emergency welfare measures, including financial support, to the lakhs of construction workers who are in financial distress due to the outbreak of coronavirus. Smt. Sonia Gandhi's Letters Amid Covid-19

The BJP government has failed to control the coronavirus spread in India, and has also not been able to address the needs of the people. With the second highest coronavirus cases and third highest deaths due to coronavirus in the world, the Indian people have lost faith in the ruling government. 

As people across the country face many economic and social problems due to COVID-19, Shri Rahul Gandhi has emerged as a beacon of hope. **Shri Rahul Gandhi’s Contributions During the Pandemic**

- Shri Rahul Gandhi strongly advocated for the rights of migrant workers suffering under the unplanned lockdown by the Modi government. He attacked Prime Minister Modi on his mismanagement in this regard several times. Shri Gandhi demanded Rs. 7,500  direct cash transfers in the accounts of the poor. - Rahul Gandhi released a sum of Rs 2.66 crore from his Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLAD) funds for the purchase of ventilators, testing kits, personal protection equipment (PPEs) and other medical tools to fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. Other Congress leaders like AK Antony and Shashi Tharoor also followed his footsteps.

- On former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi’s death anniversary, the Congress unveiled the Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana (RGKNY), which was implemented by the Bhupesh Baghel government in Chhattisgarh. The Nyay scheme which was announced by Shri Rahul Gandhi during the Lok Sabha election, was implemented in Chhattisgarh on 21st June, 2020. Under the scheme, up to Rs 10,000 per acre a year will be transferred into the bank accounts of farmers. The state has provisioned Rs 5,750 crore for the scheme. A much needed scheme, especially during the pandemic, it relieved many farmers of the economic hardships they’re going through. In such difficult situations, Shri Rahul Gandhi’s Nyay scheme is relevant with its goal of “transfer cash not loans.” 

- Rahul Gandhi attacked the government several times on the spread of the coronavirus. Even before the pandemic spread in India, as early as February 12, 2020 he warned the nation of the danger of coronavirus and urged the government to take timely action. On March 17, 2020, he alerted the government that a major economic tsunami would sweep India if they didn't take steps to safeguard it. At other times, Shri Gandhi urged the government to increase testing so as to limit the spread and apprised them that the lockdown was not a permanent solution. The Modi government should have listened to him as each of his predictions came true. 

- The party suggested a five-point MSME package to help  India's 6.33 crore micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) employing more than 11 crore people tide over the negative impact of novel coronavirus-related disruption in their businesses and revenue losses.

**Rahul Gandhi’s Work Towards Wayanad During Covid - 19 Pandemic**


- Started projects worth Rs. 2.70 Cr to contain Covid-19 with MPLADS funds

- Wrote a letter to the Chief Minister demanding that the 'First Bell' digital learning be made available to tribal students in Wayanad. A letter to the district collector for information on the study materials & essential assistance will be provided.

**Suggestions for the BJP Government**

- Not loans, give Rs. 7,500 direct transfert to the poor. 
- Strengthen the social safety net and use of every public resource to support and shelter the working poor as the sudden lockdown had created immense panic and confusion.
- Help migrants with shelter and provide them with money directly into their bank accounts to help them tide over the next few months.
- To protect and isolate the elderly and vulnerable from the virus and to clearly and strongly communicate to the young the dangers of proximity to older people.
- Engage MSME’s in a conversation, build their confidence and protect their interests with correct and timely action.
- Set up COVID-19 MSME corpus of Rs 1 lakh crore.
- Extend soft loans with 50% government guarantee for affected sectors.
- Provide wage subsidy to employers including input tax credit.
- Provide an option to defer tax payments by six months.
- Extend permission for delayed GST payments, without levy of interest, late fees or penalties, to all statutory payments.
- Higher stimulus package for worst-hit sectors.
- To set up big dedicated hospitals with thousands of beds and ventilators.
- Increase the number of tests that we are carrying out to get an accurate picture of the spread of the virus. Conduct coronavirus testing aggressively and strategically.
To provide food to all the poor.

Shri Rahul Gandhi's Efforts to Fight Coronavirus

The COVID-19 virus has infected millions of people worldwide, with many infected in India. From crippling the already downtrodden Indian economy, burdened health infrastructure, rising unemployment to inflicting boundless miseries on people, especially the poor, the pandemic has expelled major hardships.

While new cases of the virus seem to be flatlining in other countries, India, the second most populous country in the world, doesn't seem to have any respite in sight for getting the new infections under control. With rising cases in India, many Indians are being forced into poverty.

Among many reasons for this failure was the government's unplanned lockdown. However, the warriors of Congress did their best to ensure that nobody goes to sleep hungry. From INC leaders to volunteers across the country, hundreds have come to the streets to distribute rice, grains, oil, masks, sanitisers and more during this time of need! Apart from this, volunteers have also undertaken sanitation drives in slums as well as colonies to fight the virus.

When the country faces a crisis, the Congress steps up. However, their efforts are not limited to India or their own ruled states. They haven’t only focussed on providing aid to the states they are in power in, but the Congress warriors have travelled to many places, far and wide, to distribute aid for their fellow Indians, from Gujarat to Meghalaya, from J&K to Kerala. Thousands of people are stranded and stuck, with one of the most affected groups being the students studying abroad. The Indian Overseas Congress, be it in the United Kingdom or Australia, have provided aid to students far from home. From providing ration with nostalgic Indian tastes, to free legal advice, mental health sessions and the payment of rent, Congress has shown the way even abroad!

The COVID-19 virus has infected millions of people worldwide, with many infected in India. Congress President Sonia Gandhi has said in a statement that the State units of the Congress or the Pradesh Congress Committees (PCC) will bear the cost of rail travel of every needy worker and migrant labour.

She said it was ‘disturbing’ that the Railways along with the Union government were charging the migrants for travel at a time of a pandemic when it could afford to spend almost ₹100 crores on a public programme in Gujarat, attacking the Namaste Trump event to welcome U.S. President Donald Trump.

“What is particularly disturbing is that the Central government and the Rail Ministry are charging them for train tickets in this hour of crisis,” Ms. Gandhi said in a statement.

“The Indian National Congress has, therefore, taken a decision that every Pradesh Congress Committee shall bear the cost for the rail travel of every needy worker and migrant labourer and shall take necessary steps in this regard.”

Questioning the responsibility of the Union government, the Congress chief said there were lakhs of migrant workers who were ‘languishing’ in different parts of the country with neither food nor money to travel.

“Post the Partition of 1947, this is the first time India witnessed a tragedy with such a massive human cost as thousands of migrant workers and labourers were forced to walk home several hundred kilometres on foot — without food, without medicines, without money, without transportation, without anything except for the desire to return to their families and loved ones. The very thought of their plight is enough to break our hearts as there was also the outpouring of support from fellow Indians for their inspiring resolve,” she said.

“Our workers and labourers are the ambassadors of our nation’s growth. When our government can recognise its responsibility by arranging free air travel for our citizens stranded abroad, when the government can spend nearly ₹100 crores on transport and food etc. for just one public programme in Gujarat, when the Rail Ministry has the largesse to donate ₹151 crores to the PM’s Corona fund, then why can’t these essential members of our nation’s fabric be given a fraction of the same courtesy, especially free rail travel, at this hour of acute distress,” asked Ms. Gandhi.

The Congress chief said that by a “humble contribution” the Congress would stand “shoulder to shoulder in solidarity with the workers”.

Congress will pay for rail travel of migrant workers, says Sonia Gandhi

Covid-19, the deadly pandemic the world is currently fighting against, has a massive social and economic impact across the world. To tackle the virus, the majority of countries have announced a number of emergency fiscal and monetary measures. India’s allocation is at 0.8% of its GDP, which is shockingly low especially keeping in mind how the pandemic can affect a populated country like India. Most other countries have spent much more like the UK, France and Germany economic packages that were 15% of their GDP, and the USA whose package is at 10%.

The Congress, observing the low financial package of the country, urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to declare a financial package of a minimum of five to six percent of the GDP to ensure that the country is able to make an economic recovery after the COVID-19 lockdown.

The Opposition party demanded that the Central Government clears all pending dues as well as special economic packages to the various states to enable them to take measures to control the spread of the novel coronavirus.

At a press conference via video, Congress party spokesperson Anand Sharma stated that the ruling government should allow industry contributions under the corporate social responsibility to the chief minister relief funds across states the same way that was granted to the PM Cares Fund. He further added that if the government doesn’t do do, it would prove discrimination and unfairness towards states.

"These are extraordinary times and it requires extraordinary actions. That is why the prime minister should be bold and declare an economic package to help revive various sectors of the economy post lockdown," Mr Sharma said.

"We expect that the economic package should be at least five-six per cent of India''s GDP," he further exclaimed.
